A Texas Tech Fan Sent McDonald's To The Texas AD As A Thank You For Hiring Chris Beard And Leaving Mark Adams Alone
What a move. Now you might wondering what the backstory is here. Luckily it's fairly easy. A year ago yesterday Texas announced the hiring of Chris Beard from Texas Tech. More importantly to this story the Texas AD tweeted this out:
The order of the McDonald's meal Del Conte and Beard apparently had together while agreeing for him to leave Tech. Let me tell you something. Texas Tech fans were PISSED. They are also a ruthless, ruthless fanbase. I love them. I have such a soft spot for Texas Tech because they are prime college sports fans. Do they always make sense? Of course not. Do they freakout over basically nothing a lot of the times? Of course. But they live and breathe Red Raiders athletics and that's how you win me over.
So fast forward a year. Texas underachieved this year. They were supposed to be awesome, to put it mildly they were not. Sure, they won a game in the NCAA Tournament, but they should have been a second weekend team and better than a 6 seed. Meanwhile Texas Tech overachieved. They were a 3 seed, played in the Big 12 title game, looked the part of a top-12ish if not better team all year.
So that's where Jody S. Laughter comes into play. They decided to thank Chris Del Conte for leaving Mark Adams in Lubbock by sending him the same meal via Uber Eats. College sports man. You don't get this shit anywhere else. It's why I'll always favor this game instead of anything else. Great response by Del Conte too.
He should have took a picture eating it, but this works.
