Contrary To Popular Belief The Philadelphia Flyers Will Not Be Winning The Stanley Cup This Year
I have to admit that I was astonished when I found out yesterday the Flyers still hadn't been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. I just assumed that would have happened in the beginning of March with how dog shit this team has been all year.
This was without a doubt the most demoralizing year in the history of the Philadelphia Flyers. The type of season that makes you want to stop being a fan and never look back. From the disaster of a product on the ice, to Ryan Ellis just being a figment of our imagination, to Keith Yandle turning into the worst defenseman to ever lace up a pair of skates, to the organization not making a single mention of Ed Snider on his birthday, to having to mercy sacrifice Giroux to the Panthers just to give the face of a franchise a chance to play hockey in May, to having Zack MacEwen as the only likable dude on this roster. I mean what the hell, man? A guy the Flyers claimed off waivers is the only player on this roster who people genuinely never seem to get annoyed with. Speaking of major annoyances, fuck Gritty.
I don't know. Maybe I'm just a bad fan at this point but I've watched a combined total 7 minutes of Flyers hockey over the past 7 weeks. The first 28 years of my life revolved around the Flyers, and now I couldn't even tell you who is in the lineup every night. So congratulations to Dave Scott and the whole crew over at Comcast Spectacor. They've achieved the seemingly impossible and made the Flyers completely irrelevant in Philadelphia. I could sense the writing on the walls back in 2017, just never in my wildest dreams did I think we'd see the day finally come.
The Flyers are at least a 4 year total rebuild away from being worth your time. I'll probably be long fired by then so this very well might just be the end of the Flyers blogging era for your good pal Jordie. It was a great run, friends. Sell the goddamn team, and let's go Panthers.
