It Turns Out We Have Been Saying Lindsay Lohan's Name Wrong All Of Our Lives, And We Probably Won't Fix It

Lindsay Lohan is reintroducing herself on TikTok.

The actress, 35, posted her first clip to the video-sharing app earlier this month, where she greeted her followers with a quick message.

"Hey everyone, it's Lindsay Lohan, and guess what? Now I'm on TikTok," she said in the Feb. 7 clip, ending her message with a wide smile.

She captioned the post, "I'm on Tiktok Now! 🥰 #imontiktoknow."

Lohan's post had fans realizing they've been saying her name incorrectly for years. While Lohan emphasized the "o" in her last name, people commonly mispronounce it and stress the "a" instead.

I'll be honest, I don't think this is the first time I'm hearing this. Likely because I was a big fan of the reality show Living Lohan on E!, and the whole family spent countless minutes correcting people on the pronunciation of their last name. I wonder if this was a PR move, where they heard "low-han" in the tabloids and thought it was like nails on a chalkboard, so they chose to rebrand to "low-en." It obviously never stuck, and now we have LiLo herself giving us the business over it. Will it stick this time? Definitely not. She's Low-han for life. Dina can cry herself to sleep all she wants over it. She should've tried harder when Lindsay was young and not yet famous!! You can't just go by one name for 20 years and then decide to tell everyone "well, actually" about the pronunciation. Kind of like Emma Stone - apparently her name is just Emily? And everyone calls her Emily. For some reason, she went by Emma when she got famous and it stuck. Emma, Emily - not that different, but wow, how annoying to be called Emma nonstop when your name is literally Emily?

It made me wonder, what's the big deal? Why are we all so annoyed by people not saying our names right? The surge of anger I get if someone calls me "Kay-gen" instead of the VERY CLEAR DOUBLE E "Kee-gan," I lose my shit. Turns out, according to one google search with 15 million results, we're all feeling protective over our identities:

I want to be validated as a human being!! I want people to KNOW MY NAME AND KNOW IT WELL! I'm sure every super hero and super villain has started their careers with the second half of that proclamation. We all want to be known. We want to leave our mark on society, we want to be written about in history books, we want our legacies to carry on. Now imagine again, being stuck in a world where everyone, all day long, calls you the wrong thing? Madness.

Side note, Lindsay looks great, right? Great as in, no longer an early 20s mess falling out of a car with her vagina out. She's come a long way, our dear Lindsay, and I'm happy to see her doing silly shit like joining Tiktok and trolling people who say her name wrong. She's also already put out a video of her famous quote from Parent Trap:

Lovely, just lovely. I might even make more of an effort to say her name right if she keeps this up. MORE LILO!!!!
