Where Are The Parents Of All The Kids Who Go To Euphoria High School?
***there will be spoilers in this blog, don't read it if you haven't seen the new episode of Euphoria***
The first episode of Season 2 Euphoria came out last night, and all in all? I think it was great. We've obviously had a huge hiatus from the show, season 1 coming out in June of 2019, and it's going to take a little bit of time for the setup. That's probably my only complaint - a lot of setup with the drug dealers/etc. I'm interested in that, but I'm more interested in the sex scandals of everyone else tbh. Luckily we also got plenty of that.
I was saying last night that the title of the episode could've been "Cassie's (Sydney Sweeney) Boobs." Maybe it's just me, but her parts were the most interesting and I have a feeling her storyline will be the best of the whole season. We start out, she's fucked up, having jumped out of her sister's car on the way to a New Year's party. Remembering at the end of the last season, she's about to have a bit of a breakdown and start going through some hoe phases. She ends up on the sidewalk outside of a convenience store, where she runs into Nate (Jacob Elordi) who gives her a ride to the party. They drink beers in the car, they speed over 100 miles an hour, Cassie is seductively holding herself out of the window, and throws her underwear into the back of Nate's car. The second she did this, I made a note to remember it, because I'm POSITIVE it will be a problem at some point. They get to the NYE party, straight to the bathroom without anyone seeing them, and they start really fucking. Shortly after, Nate's ex and Cassie's best friend, Maddie, starts banging on the door RELENTLESSLY trying to get in. This whole part of the show I was holding my breath. I (and I think everyone else) am straight up afraid of Maddie. I would NOT fuck with her. Eventually Cassie has to hide in the TUB to get away from Maddie (who later uses a towel to wipe after peeing and throws it directly onto Cassie's face not realizing she's there, seriously brutal.) At the end of the day, Cassie and Nate got away with it.
Meanwhile, Rue is back on drugs and going to houses with Fezco again. They all get held at gunpoint, are forced to strip, and then accepted by the only female drug dealer they know that's in the game. These scenes were insane too, especially if you think about the fact these kids are in high school. Which finally, brings me to my point:
WHERE ARE ALL OF THE PARENTS OF THESE KIDS?
I know we've been introduced to their characters, and most of them are just as fucked up as their kids. But, where are they? Maybe I grew up with really nosey parents, but there's just no way ANY of this happens without something getting back to SOMEBODY. I mean, these kids are just completely 100% unsupervised at all times. Do you know how fucking hard it was to sneak alcohol away from my parents' bar, let alone the idea of me coming home from a party smelling like weed, cig smoke, alcohol and sex? I'd never be let out of the house again. One time I came home hungover and reeked of beer, I told my mom "we had Italian food with a lot of garlic." What? LOL. No way she believed that, but still. That's the level of lying we're doing in real life when we're 15/16. The whole premise of the show is obviously how absurd it is that all of this is happening to High School kids, but last night really highlighted how unlikely it has to be. High School CANNOT be like this now, I don't care where you live. Can it?
