Wake Up With The "Rockstar" Music Video By Nickelback
During this week's Hawkeye recap, Bob Fox and I got into a debate about if Imagine Dragons are good, bad, or ironically great which of course turned the conversation to Nickelback since they have become the poster band for the debate. Some of their songs are alright, some of their songs are horrible, but will scream from the mountaintops until the day I die that the "Rockstar" music video is fantastic.
Good song. Fun concept. And most importantly that 4 minutes and 14 seconds is the perfect marker of its time. A digital time capsule of the mid 2000s capturing the styles, celebrities, and just overall vibes of an era that more and more people will probably get extra nostalgic about like we did for the 90s to escape the digital hellscape this world has become. Even the slight static at the top of this video takes me back to a world where everything wasn't streaming 8K directly into our eyeballs. Not that it was better or worse, but it simply perfectly fits that period of life. There will be plenty of people who say this song is trash but fuck'em. It is at worst a guilty pleasure and at best a delightful throwback to better times with a video full of great cameos you have forgotten all these years later.
Now let's have ourselves a weekend!
