10 Movies & 3 Shows That You Should Stream
MOVIES
1. The Harder They Fall - Netflix: This movie just came out and it is a delight. Awesome, stylized western that has an interesting spin on the classic revenge tale. Cool gunfights and really damn good performances from Jonathan Majors, LaKeith Stanfield and Regina King crushed it.
2. Apocalypse Now - Netflix: An all-time classic that needs to be watched by anyone that wants to consider themselves a movie fan. Easily one of the greatest war movies ever made.
3. Kicking & Screaming - HBO Max: I have such a soft spot for this movie. It's the perfect blend of funny for all ages while having a ton of heart from the very good cast. Get more roles for Ditka!
4. The Hidden Fortress - HBO Max: This legendary Kurosawa movie has had a ton of impact on cinema. It's about a pair of peasants hired to escort a man and woman through enemy territory. What the peasants don't know is that the woman is a princess, and the man a general. It's another awesome story that later directly directly inspired one of the biggest Kurosawa fans in cinema, George Lucas, when he was writing Star Wars: A New Hope.
5. Dune- HBO Max: This is only on streaming for a few more weeks, so get your watch in while you can.
6. That Thing You Do! - Hulu: This was a big time TV Cart movie for me growing up. It's a nice easy watch with plenty of great laughs.
7. The Fighter - Hulu: This is one of the greatest fighting movies ever made. Here is where I have it in the boxing movie standings:
8. Cast Away - Prime Video: Another Hanks joint, and another banger. I still get the heebie jeebies when he knocks that tooth out of his own mouth.
9. Ong Bak - Prime Video: This is one of the greatest action movies you have never seen. It is a Thai movie starring real life May Thai artist Tony Jaa. The plot is basic, but the fight choreo is unlike almost anything you watched before. The hits feel real and the moves are insane.
10 Pumping Iron - Prime Video: To me, this is a great documentary. It does a great job at diving you into a really nice subject and period, and it happens to revolved around stars like Schwarzenegger and Ferrigno.
SHOWS
1. Derry Girls - Netflix: If you are looking for a show to watch with your s/o, this is it. Actually solid laughs and very good acting.
2. Billions (Prime Video): I know a fair amount of people watch this show, but it is still not enough.
3. Dopesick(Hulu): This series has really lived up to my expectations for it. Personally, I didn't know a ton about Oxy's origins, but I knew a lot of people that suffered because of it. This show does a good job of both explaining and dramatizing.
