Graduating From College Without Owning A Computer Is Next Level Intelligence
Yes I did not own a computer in college that is correct. I technically do own a laptop now but it doesn’t work. I’m typing this blog off of my handy dandy iPad with a keyboard attached to it so I feel like that’s basically a laptop. I never was a big computer/technology guy. I don‘t play video games nor do I own a gaming console of any kind. If it wasn’t for this job at barstool I probably wouldn’t use any sort of device with a screen and keyboard besides my iPhone.
College in a nut shell is overrated. The experience of college isn’t overrated because it‘s a fucking blast, but when it comes to cost of tuition compared to what you’re actually getting out of it in terms of getting a job it is certainly overrated. College is a great experience to find yourself and grow up a little bit while having some fun along the way but at the end of the day good grades are for the idiots. Unless you’re going into a profession where you need more school (doctor, lawyer, etc) or are working with numbers lIke in finance or some shit, grades don’t mean shit once you leave college. Just get the diploma and get the fuck out. No one in the real world besides a few specific fields are gonna ask for your GPA and realistically they’re only gonna ask that if you’re 22 years old and fresh out of college. Sorry that I was just smart enough to realize that in real time. Spend my money on a laptop? No thanks! I’ll just spend my money on alcohol, weed and food and when I need to write a paper I’ll just go to the library and bang it out in one shot. I’d usually wake up at like 7:30 am, take a vyvanse, go to the library and not get up from one of their computers until I finished the entire thing. That’s next level discipline and focus. Doesn’t have to be pretty just gotta get the job done. That was enough to land me a degree from THE Ohio State University and an internship that led to a full time gig at my dream job. Not too shabby for a kid that didn’t own a computer.
