Watching Fiji Celebrate The Rugby Gold Medal Is Even Cooler When You Find Out They Had To Take A Damn Freight Plane Filled With Frozen Fish To Tokyo

[Stuff] - Fiji’s gold medal-winning men’s rugby sevens team were set to arrive in Tokyo for the Olympic Games on a freight flight which is hauling mostly frozen fish.

Commercial passenger flights to and from Pacific nations have become scarce during the pandemic. Lorraine Mar, the chief executive of the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee, said on Wednesday that arranging travel for the Fiji team to Tokyo has been a “logistical challenge”.

I can't get over this story because this might sum up the Olympics more than anything else. There's always some sort of story with a team or person who wins a medal. But watching all of Fiji celebrate the Rugby gold medal is somehow better. The team took a goddamn cargo plane filled with frozen fish to Tokyo because of a shortage of flights due to Covid. Ho hum gold medal. Not only that but the entire country was going crazy.

Love the dude on the date just flat out refusing to do anything but watch the Olympics. Been there before, my man. I'd say stay with whoever is filming you because clearly they understand you're a lunatic who needs to watch an awesome moment. Get that content out. You can tell rugby means A LOT to the country. Jeff wrote about the USA Rugby here and I highly suggest checking it out because it truly was an awesome event that I wish I watched more of.

All I know is when these dudes get back to the country they deserve to party. Look at them belt out the anthem, look at the emotion. Do you know how much it would have to suck taking a flight filled with frozen fish? Just sounds awful. Not only that but they had to get to Tokyo incredibly early. Have a damn party, Fiji.
