Ronda Rousey Wants To Fight Cyborg, Dana White Wants Her To Fight Cyborg, So It All Seems Dependent On If Cyborg Wants To Fight Rousey

ESPN - A potential megafight between UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino continues to hinge on a single issue: Justino’s weight. As has been the case for years, Rousey was asked about Justino (14-1) during the UFC 190 postfight news conference — and, as has been the case for years, Rousey blamed Justino’s past use of performance-enhancing drugs for the fight not happening yet. “I’m prepared to deal with anything, that’s why I’m the champion,” Rousey said. “I fight in the UFC, in the 135-pound division. She can fight at 145 pumped full of steroids or she can make the weight just like everybody else without them.” Justino, 30, tested positive for an anabolic steroid following a knockout win as the Strikeforce featherweight champion in December 2011. The Brazilian champion has never fought at 135 pounds and has expressed doubt in the past regarding her ability to get that low. She is expected to fight at a 140-pound catchweight in her next Invicta bout, likely in the fall.  UFC president Dana White has stated numerous times the promotion will not consider a catchweight fight between Rousey and Justino, although Rousey has competed at 145 pounds during her career. The UFC does not currently promote a 145-pound division. “The Cyborg thing is complicated, because everybody is ready to go,” White said on Saturday. “I’m ready for Cyborg. Ronda is ready for Cyborg. Everybody is ready for that fight, but Cyborg has to make the weight.

So the big question since Rousey’s 34 second knockout on Saturday, her 3rd first-round KO in a row, was “is she this good, or is there just absolutely zero competition?” The answer is sort of both. She is miles above every other woman in UFC, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they all suck- it’s just Rousey is a billion times better. She’s an outlier to the rest of the entire world when it comes to women’s MMA, think about that. But there is one other chick who is a bit of an ass kicker herself, and that’s Cris Cyborg. The two of them are in a bit of a Mayweather-Pacquaio situation, where it’s the one fight everyone wants to see, but all people make are excuses and drug allegations so it hasn’t gotten done.

The other problem here is the whole weight thing- I get Dana White saying Rousey makes weight, everyone else makes weight, so they expect Cyborg to make weight. But come on down off your high horse Dana, let them meet in the middle at 140. Who cares they don’t have a 145 division? Fucking nobody. Oh no, some women’s MMA purist is going to be upset they made up a new weight division, boo fucking hoo. Just do what you need to do to make the fight happen. This is, to quote a horse owner, BUHNANALAND. People are clamoring, fucking clamoring, to watch WOMEN’S MMA. When will this ever happen again? We have Ronda Rousey in her prime, in the spotlight, a mainstream celebrity, and they can’t find a way to get her to fight the only chick who might have a chance against her? Goodness fucking gracious, they can’t afford to let this slip away. Compromise, drug test, and pay her, nobody wants to see Rousey beat up the same chick for the 3rd time just because this chick made it past the 1st round. We all know how it’s going to end. Let’s just hope this doesn’t go down the 10 year road May-Pac went down. That would be the biggest mistake possible.
