Bryce Harper With Nothing But Respect For The Mets After The Weekend Series

WaPo – “We saw all three of their horses twice in a matter of two weeks,” Harper said. “.?.?. We’re gonna have some fun and enjoy it. The Mets are a great team. It’s definitely going to be a lot of fun down the stretch.” After wins and losses, Williams perpetually speaks about tomorrow, the only day the Nationals can control. His players determinedly dismiss losses as quickly as they do victories, never attaching more importance to one game than another — or at least not admitting it when they do. They acknowledged the trouble but no cause for alarm Saturday night.  “We got two months left in the season,” Rendon said. “I think we’ll be all right.”

Little good news, bad news type deal. The good news is Bryce Harper continues to be a stand-up guy, giving the Mets nothing but respect after they swept the Nats over the weekend. I mean what else can you say when 3 pitchers in a row throw 98 MPH heat nonstop? The Mets pitching is the real deal, anyone who argues otherwise is on crack. So of course Bryce, the student of the game that he is, gave the Mets props. He’s a competitor though and can’t wait to see them again. The teams are tied for first right now, it’s going to be a gutter war the rest of the way. These 2 months are going to fly.

Also more good news is despite going against the toughest pitchers in the world, Bryce continued to hit.

Hitting .300 off those pitchers is INSANE. And to think the Mets fans were chanting “overrated” at him. What an embarrassment for Mets fans on national television. The 22 year old who is going to win the MVP is somehow overrated. Just made the fans look so, so dumb.

I’m level headed and realistic enough to say yea, being swept, especially the way we were swept, sucked. But at the same time, game 1 was to a walk-off in the 12th, and game 2 Matt Williams handed to the Mets on silver fucking platter because he doesn’t understand basic pitcher-hitter matchups. Keeping in Joe Ross to face the two guys on the Mets he can’t get out was so fucking dumb. And then walking Cespedes who hits .150 off lefties (instead of just bringing in a lefty from the pen) to bring up Duda who has 15 home runs in his last 8 at bats was so mind-numblingly dumb Matt Williams should have had to walk home. Or not go home at all. He’s the fucking worst.

2 more months. Every game matters. Tables, ladders, and chairs will be flying.
