Hold Onto Your Butts. A Face/Off Sequel Is Coming, And Nicolas Cage And John Travolta Are Now Rumored To Be Returning.

NME - Speaking in a new interview, Wingard said that he wants the actors back for the sequel in order to provide a “definitive continuation” to the original.

“Some people just assume when I say that it just means it takes place in the world of Face/Off,” he told Showbiz CheatSheet.

“To me, Face/Off isn’t about a procedure or anything like that. It’s not about the world that the characters exist in. It’s about Sean Archer and it’s about Castor Troy. That’s what this movie is about. It’s the continuation of that story. It’s hard to talk about other than that but this is, to me, the definitive continuation of that saga.”

Wingard went on to reveal that Travolta and Cage are interested in reuniting for the project but their involvement depends on the quality of the script penned by Wingard and Simon Barrett.

“We’re still writing the script so it’s still in early phases,” he explained. “Simon and I are very close to turning in our draft to Paramount soon.

He continued: “We’ll have to get over those hurdles of do they like this movie? They’ve read our outline. Everybody’s on board with it but actually turning in the script’s a different thing so we’ll see how everybody reacts to it.”

Wingard stated that the two characters will be at the centre of the plot for the new movie. “This is a story about Sean Archer and Castor Troy. To stick with that, the story is leading us in a very specific direction,” he explained.

Kenjac blogged the news back in February that director Adam Wingard announced he was doing a sequel to the 1990's epic, Face/Off.

If that news didn't get your dick as hard as a railroad spike in the North Pole than you must hate great cinema. Face/Off was, is, and forever will be one of the the greatest films ever not only produced, but schemed up.

You know how we're always complaining that Hollywood has run out of ideas and bitching about how lazy they are for continuing to just recyle the same bullshit? Constantly going back to the well and running back reboot after reboot? Well Face/Off was the antithesis of that. Can you even imagine Adam Wingard and company pitching that script to the money team (checks notes) at Paramount Pictures?

"Ok so here's the premise. We've got Sean Archer (Travolta) who was hot on the trail of Castor Troy (Cage), who killed Archer’s son. When Archer captures Troy, he must switch faces with him to go undercover and find out where Troy has planted a bomb. Unfortunately, Troy wakes up and takes Archer’s face. The film ends with Archer getting his face back. We're calling it "Face Off"."

Why the fuck can't they make movies with plots like this anymore? Where has all the outside the box thinking gone?

The picture in the thumbnail is a shirt that belongs to my go-to for all things Nicolas Cage, Devlin.

To put things in context, if Nicolas Cage was ever on trial and the defense needed to call a Nicolas Cage expert witness, Devlin would take the stand. He does sleep on a Nic Cage pillow every night after all.

So I obviously asked Devlin what his thoughts were on this news-

Castor Troy may be dead but what about his twin brother? If it’s not gonna resume the Troy bloodline somehow and specifically someone having to undercover as Nic Cage again, why even make it? Give me an even more insulting impression than Travolta did or GIVE ME DEATH

 if Nic is back:

IM REAAAAAAAAADY

READY FOR THE BIG RIDEEEE BABAAAAAAAAY!!

Otherwise I will not be eating that peach for hours. But fingers crossed the director sounds like he wants to do it justice… just don’t think it can exist without Cage. But I also think that about everything so…

Couldn't agree more with the former intern slave here. If you don't have Cage you don't have a film worth seeing. No offense, Mr. Wingard, but facts are facts.

Not sure if anybody has seen John Travolta lately but dear Lord what a trainwreck. I'm not encouraging anybody to do so, but if you were subjected to watching Gotti, like I was, then you know.

It's either Cage and Travolta, or Cage and some nobody's, or no movie. Travolta without Cage is a no-go, simple as that.

Bring this baby home Paramount Pictures. We've earned it.

Also, one more thing while I have your attention. Bring Gina Gershon back for this one please and thank you.
