The New 'Saw' Movie Might Be Really Cool Or Absolutely Horrendous

Uhhhh.... hmm.

So here's my first reaction to this trailer: it feels like a fucking Taco Bell Nacho Fries commercial.

There's just something about the Chris Rock voiceover in the trailer that doesn't quite do it for me. I also think the teaser trailer was far more effective at getting me hyped up for this movie.

(it's crazy that this trailer came out around the Super Bowl last year)

Despite my reservations about the new trailer, I'm still looking forward to this movie. There's something about traditionally comedic actors (Jordan Peele) doing horror (John Krasinski) lately that gives me hope for Chris Rock's vision for a franchise and property that can likely still pack a punch.

The plot is rather simple and straight-forward…

Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash detective Ezekiel "Zeke" Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner William Schenk (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city's gruesome past. Unwittingly trapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer's morbid game. (via Polygon)

…but that also leaves us open for, likely, the most amount of mystery and intrigue with the story.

The movie drops in May (in theaters, which, I've been back to, by the way, and boy was it great!), so we have some time for the hype to build up a bit.

Will it, though? That's a question I keep asking myself. This movie was one of those delayed releases that weren't big enough to make a ton of noise, so I am not sure how many people care about it? Do you care about 'Spiral'? Are you excited? Let us know below…
