BREAKING: Tim Tebow Has Retired From Baseball
The New York Mets today announced that outfielder Tim Tebow is retiring from professional baseball. “It has been a pleasure to have Tim in our organization as he’s been a consummate professional during his four years with the Mets,” said Team President Sandy Alderson. “By reaching the Triple-A level in 2019, he far exceeded expectations when he first entered the system in 2016 and he should be very proud of his accomplishments.”
“I want to thank the Mets, Mr. Alderson, the fans and all my teammates for the chance to be a part of such a great organization,” said Tebow. “I loved every minute of the journey, but at this time I feel called in other directions. I never want to be partially in on anything. I always want to be 100 percent in on whatever I choose. Thank you again for everyone’s support of this awesome journey in baseball, I’ll always cherish my time as a Met. #LGM
Thus ends what has to be the most covered three year career in Minor League Baseball history that ended in AAA with God's favorite player joining God's least favorite team. On Ash Wednesday no less! As a Mets fan, I was thrilled at the thought of Tim Tebow coming to camp initially because I thought at least he could give some great motivational speeches to the guys grinding the long bus trips with PB&Js and at most he could pull off a real life Angels In The Outfield for the Amazin' Mets.
Instead, He hangs up his spikes after putting up 18 bombs and a .223 average over 287 games across the Minors after giving it his best shot. When Mets fans look back at the last few years of the Wilpons, they will see two sets of footprints in the sand for most of the time. However, when there were only one set of footprints, that's when Timothy Richard Tebow carried our broken baseball souls with his random big flies and occasional miracle to help us forget the baseball purgatory we were living in. Now He has passed us off to our savior in Cohentology and is now moving on to the next phase of His life.
Thanks for the memories Tim.
