Sandy Alderson Says "There Is No Trade. A Trade Has Not And Will Not Transpire"

The old saying is, if its too good to be true, it probably is. And I dont know why we didnt keep that in mind when the “news” of this “trade” first broke. I’m praying to God this is just some last minute posturing as they finalize things but the “Will Not Transpire” from Sandy Alderson is pretty damning.

Unbelievable. I blame these goddam beat reporters and social media. Every asshole wants to be the first to break news. Every asshole wants credit and twitter followers. So quick to “report” things as done or finalized. And then the rest of us assholes just run with it like its gospel. Next thing you know you’ve got guys crying on the fucking field and an entire team’s fan base blue balled. Its not uncommon at all for Twitter to do this, of course. But obviously this progressed further than usual. Players on the Brewers saying their goodbyes. Credible sources saying an agreement was in place. Social Media fucked us on this one but something is still bizarre. Something stinks to high heavens. And it stinks like the METS. The whole sequence of events – from Flores crying to Terry’s press conference to Sandy’s press conference – was SO METS it makes me want to punch myself in the dick over and over and over again.

OUTRAGEOUSLY bizarre situation. Mishandled by the media and the public, not necessarily the team. But nonetheless a moment that will go down in more Mets infamy.

PS – While I am absolutely furious this trade is off, Terry Collins tonight was fucking hilarious:

The thought that, at that moment, the entire galaxy knew about this trade and he didnt, is hilarious. His player is crying on the fucking field. The fans are giving him a random standing ovation in the middle of a 7-2 blowout. Teammates in the dugout saying their goodbyes. And its just business as usual for Terry like “Whadda ya mean? Whats going on? Wilmer’s been traded? CRIPES!” Too funny.
