The Bruins Shit Pump The Flyers 6-1
Talk about an absolute shit pumping. Bruins dominate the Flyers 6-1 for their 2nd straight win. That was fun. Let's talk about it.
1ST PERIOD:
2ND PERIOD:
Team Portnoy's Kevin Hayes tied the game early in the 2nd off a great tip in transition. Honestly not even mad. Shout out to everyone in Michigan or Pennsylvania who bet on him to score at the Barstool Sportsbook +375. Great bet. Reminder: All weekend long Penn National Gaming is matching your first time donations to the Barstool Fund! Must be in MI/PA. Already 2M raised!
Craig Smith scored his first goal of the year, cleaning up a feed from Charlie Coyle to regain the lead for the Bruins. 2-1.
Charlie Coyle extended the Bruins lead. What a pass from Trent Frederic. What was prettier the assist or the goal? The answer is yes. 3-1 Bruins after 2.
3RD PERIOD:
A relentless shift from Bergeron and Brad Marchand makes it 4-1 Bruins early in the 3rd.
Snipe city population Brad Marchand. Marchand's 2nd of the game on the PP assisted by Nick Ritchie.
Patrice Bergeron cleaned up on the power play for his 2nd goal of the night. 6-1 Bruins.
FINAL: Boston 6, Philadelphia 1
News, notes and quotes:
- 3 point nights for the Captain Patrice Bergeron (2G, 1A) and Brad Marchand (2G, 1A). They were just relentless all night. Never out of any battles. It's gotta be exhausting going up against them. Power Play is heating up (3 for 4 tonight) and so is 37+63.
- Nick Ritchie continues to impress in front of the net on the PP, 2 assist night for him (2nd straight multipoint game). 2021 the year of Ritch Boiii.
- The 3rd line was absolutely buzzing tonight. Craig Smith got his first goal as a Bruin (and picked up an assist). Trent Frederic (who got bumped up to the top nine before the game) recorded his first NHL point with this absolute sauce to Charlie Coyle. Coyle with a 2 point night (1G, 1A). My god the Bruins haven't had a 3rd line this good in a while, the Smith/Coyle duo is starting to gain chemistry and confidence each and every game. Frederic continues to make a good impression, drew 2 penalties tonight as well. Can't talk enough about how well he's played in his role to start the year.
- Matt Grzelcyk did not play tonight. I believe it was precautionary (went hard into the boards last game). Connor Clifton slid in for him. Played well we'll see what happens come Tuesday but I suspect Grzelcyk will be back. The D has played well. Zboril has been a welcome surprise. He's been great.
- Jake DeBrusk had himself quite a night. I think he broke a few sticks and face planted into the boards. Such a goof I love it.
- Jaro Halak made 16 of 17 saves.
- Thanks to everyone who tuned into Marina's Morning Skate with Jordie earlier this week. Gonna keep cranking out podcasts, any and all feedback would help! It's tough doing a solo pod but I'm trying my best. If you haven't listened yet check it out anywhere you get your podcasts. Download, subscribe and review!
B's are back Tuesday night when the Pittsburgh Penguins come to town.
It was a great night to win a hockey game.
