Bruce Springsteen Played A 2-Hour Surprise Set At A Local Jersey Bar Cause Bruce Springsteen Is The Goddamn Man
Jersey – Springsteen’s longtime friend Joe Grushecky was performing a show at Asbury Park’s Wonder Bar when, three songs in, Springsteen joined him onstage for the rest of the show. They played songs such as “Adam Raised a Cain,” “Darkness on the Edge of Town,” and, fittingly enough, “Atlantic City.” It’s not quite the epic event most Springsteen concerts are, but if you were just stopping by a bar on a Saturday night and then suddenly one of the biggest stars in rock and roll stopped by to jam for two hours, it would still be a tremendous event. It has not been a big year for Springsteen, who has been relatively quiet. However, there are rumors that he may be coming out with a new album soon.
I kind of feel bad Joe Grushecky got absolutely cuckolded at his own show, but it comes with the territory. When The Boss wants to play then you kindly step aside and abide by his rules. No joke, if I was given enough notice I would’ve walked up from Avalon to see this. You’re looking at a chump who drunkenly threw $20* at the end of the night on Saturday to get the guitarist to play Born To Run. Again. Still upset they wouldn’t let me play the harmonica to Thunder Road. If I had any balls whatsoever there would have been a scene.
Wait, Bruce played for only two hours? These people got gipped. Even at 60+ this man does MARATHON shows for around 4 hours. Those concerts single-handedly (along with the stroke and 5 wives) put The Big Man in his grave, RIP. Here’s one of Bruce’s greatest shows straight from the Darkness tour. Yes, it’s only two hours…and it’s only part 1.
*I seriously need to stop doing that. Legitimately the only things I spend my money on is beer, GrubHub and requesting music at bars…and I’m still in the red for life.
