Jacob deGrom Struck Out The Side In About 60 Seconds Last Night

Does that fully count as a coming out party? Dont think enough time elapsed. First guy to ever strike out the side in an All Star Game on just 10 pitches. I was hoping last night was going to be the night everyone walked away saying “Yea but what about that DEGROM kid?? He was lights out! Everyone talks about Harvey but he’s the real ace.” Problem was he struck out the side in the blink of an eye. I honestly dont think he was out there for more than 2 or 3 minutes. Good morning, good afternoon, good night. Straight up Pedro in ’99 stuff. Didnt even really get a chance to talk about his hair or how he can swing the bat or any of the other awesome shit about Jacob deGrom. I figured he’d take the mound against some of the best hitters in baseball, have dudes passing out thinking about him on their team, leave girls in the stands O’ing and call it a night. Instead only enough time past to get the girls a little wet and leave the guys googling for more. Its like Marty McFly when he punched out Biff Tannen and everyone was like “Who is that?” and his mom said “Calvin Klein.”

Except its not Calvin Klein. Its Jake deGrom. And he’s on his skateboard back to Queens with his incredible hair flowing in the wind.

The eternal question continues to rage on about “If the Mets only had one game to pitch, Harvey or deGrom?” I think we’ve reached the point where, currently, its deGrom no doubt about it. Harvey is definitely suffering from those post Tommy John blues. Hes a little off. Lotta walks. Still an absolute stud. I mean when your staff is so good Matt Harvey is sometimes spoken about in a negative manner, thats how you know you’ve got something special. As much as I make fun of Mets management and Mets fans who always say “___ is the year!” I really do think 2016 is the year for Harvey. When hes fully back, fully comfortable and back to what he used to be. But for right now, its Jake deGrom and it aint close. The guy is masterful. Hes fast. Hes efficient. Got an electric fastball and a devestating curve. Quiet, composed demeanor. Hes just a machine. A 7 foot 1, 160 pound machine. He’s like Kristaps Porzingis but a Cy Young caliber pitcher.
