Kristaps Porzingis Threw A Block Party For Jahlil Okafor On Tuesday
Look at the 4th pick of the draft eat the lunch of the 3rd pick. Sure Okafor put up 18 points, but it was a quiet 18. I am honestly not sure where my joking about Porzingis being good stopped and where I started to believe that he was actually going to become a good player. But here we are. I think that I (as well as millions of other Knicks fans) went through a traumatic experience the night of the lottery only to have that trauma compounded by when the Knicks shocked the world and took Kristaps Porzingis with the No. 4 pick. I think that part of us thinks we can will him to become great, while another part of us knows he is a baby-faced Latvian player that could be an EPIC bust, so we should have fun with it while it lasts. And having James Worthy call him a combination of Dirk and Durant wasn’t a terrible thing, either. I am kind of embarrassed to admit just how much of these Summer League games I have watched thus far. But this team is flat out more fun to watch than last year’s Knicks.
That jump shot is SO. WET.
But after Knickstaps went full Mutombo on the man picked one spot before him made myself (along with a bunch of Knicks Twitter) talk ourselves into The Great Wall of Latvia being more than the next Andrea Bargnani. I know that sounds crazy. But if I told you that the kid pictured below would one day win an NBA MVP and beat a team headed by LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh in the Finals, you would have said I was crazy.
Young Zingis. So goddamn hot right now.
