Will Ferrell Confirms Zoolander 2 Is Officially Happening And He Will Be Back As Mugatu

News - Will Ferrell has let slip about some things to expect in the long-awaited sequel to Zoolander which is sure to make fans extremely happy. Ferrell of course played Mugatu in the 2001 film which sees Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) and Hansel (Owen Wilson) compete to be the hottest male model. Ferrell almost steals the show as a camp fashion designer who tries to brainwash Zoolander so he can continue to use child labour to make his clothing line. The actor told joblo.com that the script is done and that his character is set to return. “We are actually supposed to do a read-through of a sequel script soon, and Mugatu is a part of it,” he said. The loose premise of Zoolander 2 will see Derek and Hansel trying to compete against younger models as an opposing company tries to take them out from the business. It is set to be directed by Justin Theroux, Jennifer Aniston’s fiance. The Zoolander sequel has had a couple of false starts. In December, Stiller said the project was on hold because they wanted to get it right. “There’s a script we like, but I don’t want to force it, because people who love that movie really love it, so I want to make sure we do the sequel the right way,” he said. “Mike Myers did it well with the Austin Powers movies — they were all funny, and very ‘of their time’. And Zoolander is ‘of its time’, too, so it’s about how we could bring it up to date, to the present day.” Jonah Hill has been linked to the project as has supermodel Cara Delevingne but neither have been confirmed.

Oh happy day! Might as well pack it in for the day, because like New Found Glory once sang, it’s all down hill from here. Getting confirmation from Will Ferrell that Zoolander is getting a sequel is the best news since finding out the Super Troopers sequel is in the works. Zoolander is funny each and every single time you watch it. Just thinking about it makes me laugh…how did they even come up with half the lines? We need to pray to baby Jesus that Will Ferrell and co learned from the travesty that was Anchorman 2 and won’t botch Zoolander 2. Anchorman 2 taught me it’s better to not have a sequel to an all time classic than to have one and completely ruin it.

Now hit the music!
