Self-Parking Car Goes Ahead And Runs People Over...Welcome Back To Reality

WTOP - For those who find it difficult to park a car, the notion of a self-parking vehicle sounds great — but it’s clearly not fool-proof. A demonstration of a Volvo XC60 and its self-parking assist feature went very wrong in the Dominican Republic as the vehicle quickly picked up speed and slammed into journalists documenting the demo. According to the website, Remolacha, the men received minor bruising from the incident. The site says the crash was caused by human error — someone forgot to turn on the vehicle’s “City Safe” mode, which senses objects in front of the car and stops the vehicle from moving.

And welcome back to real life. Well for some of us I guess. This website has a bunch of young readers who are done with school and don’t have to work and so are just sitting around picking their butts all summer. But for you working class heroes, this one’s for you. Back from MDW where you beat your body up worse than any other weekend of the year. You finally sift through 5 hours of traffic to get back so you can make it in to work today…and a self-driving car runs you over. And you just stand there and let it like those folks, because moving out of the way is way too much effort. It’s like “oh look, I’m about to get pummeled by that car, it’s much easier to not move out of the way, so I’ll do that”. And today we are all those guys, standing there, getting face raped by a car full of excel spreadsheets, TPS Reports, and Fat Sally in accounting sending bullshit emails. The best/most optimistic advice I can give is to take your lumps, football season is right around the corner. 3 short months away.
