New Music Monday: JJ Grey & Mofro

I have been asked to do this by a handful of people because of my incredible taste in music and my unmatched knowledge of music history. I sort of introduced the world to Eric Lindell a few weeks back (to whom I've been addicted to for basically the entire summer) and have received a few emails and DMs asking me where I found him, a reminder of his name, blah blah blah. One dude even emailed me and said he met his wife at an Eric Lindell show in NYC back in 2012. Pretty cool!

With all of that said, I'm going to be casting a few lines with "new" music that I'd like to share with the masses. In steps JJ Gray & Mofro:

Now I will admit, I've never heard of them. They have millions of plays on both YouTube and Spotify so their name is def out there and they've seen some commercial success, but if I haven't heard of them, I take it that many others haven't heard of them either, so it's my divine duty to share them via a blog on www.barstoolsports.com.

JJ Grey & Mofro are cut from the same Deep South, southern blues vibe that Lindell is, which is how I found them, and they are flat out awesome. Had them in my headphones all weekend. Sure, they're not "new" and have been around the block for years now, but like I said they're new to me, so they'll be new to others as well.

Awesome summer music that ya'll should check out if you're into that sorta thing. Don't talk shit if you've heard of them. That isn't the purpose of this exercise. Their Spotify link is above, here is their YouTube playlist if you're too cheap to pay $10 a month or whatever for Spotify, and here is a live concert below:

I'll try to switch up genres here and there, but just know that southern blues, grassroots John Mayer type music what I jam out to a LOT, so that's what I'll be sharing a lot of and until I stumble upon a new artist or band, enjoy yourselves some JJ Grey & Mofro. Until then, drop me some music recommendations on Twitter or in the comment section so I can expand my horizons a lil bit. THX
