Nick Saban and Mark Ingram Beat Gus Malzahn and Bo Jackson By 6 Strokes #RollTide
…
Most shocking thing about this story is that when I finally dug into deeper, I found out Saban and Ingram didn’t win the whole tournament.
Alabama coach Nick Saban and 2009 Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram finished second to Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson and former basketball player Jon Barry in the 2015 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge golf tournament Tuesday at Reynolds Plantation Resort outside of Atlanta.
“We battled them, but they played well. It was great to be in the final competition,” Saban said. “You have to be a long hitter and Mark hit some great shots out there. It was a lot of fun.” [ESPN]
Every single tweet and post from the Alabama accounts and southern football accounts all had the same headline, how Nick Saban and Mark Ingram beat up on Malzahn and Bo, how the Bama reps took down Auburn and showed no mercy on the links. No mentions, no cares about what the actual results of the thing were, just mattered what was going on with the SEC rivalry. That’s all that matters down there, always. Seriously, Georgia Tech? Who’s that? What division of the SEC are they in? Take your little Chick Fil A golf trophy, go ahead, feel what it’s like to win something against the big boys.
PS – Do you think Saban made Ingram run laps for 2 hours afterwards for coming in second place? I mean he’s a grown man now, got his own NFL career, but I’m pretty sure as a former player if Nick Saban comes around to punish you you listen to him, no matter what age you are.
Or maybe he made himself run laps?
“When we got down to us and Georgia Tech at the end, I said to Mark Ingram ‘I know we’re at least going to win second,’” Saban said Tuesday during his Crimson Caravan stop in Dothan. “And he said, ‘You never taught me that way.’ So the player got on the coach. And that very next hole, we lost and came in second.”
What happened?
“I missed a 10-foot putt,” he said. [Montgomery]
PPS – Bo was grippin and RIPPIN
