There Is A Petition To Play Harry Caray On The New Jumbotron During The 7th Inning Stretch And Everyone Should Sign It
The Cubs have said, with the renovations to Wrigley Field, they plan to embrace its cherished past. What better way than to use the new technology of the jumbotron to put Harry Caray on it singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the 7th Inning Stretch?
…
I’m not a big change guy, my first trip to the new Wrigley last week was jarring to say the least. The new Jumbotron is absolutely ENORMOUS, I’ll get used to it in time but for right now I hate it. But, with that said, this right here is change I am 100% behind. The guests the Cubs roll out for the 7th inning stretch have become a joke. Last week I saw a couple of guys from the Book of Mormon get up there with fresh new Cubs hats they’d never worn before and lead everyone in a weird lackluster singing. It was stupid and unnecessary. So why not use that enormous jumbotron for good? Why not bring back Harry Caray and use him for the 7th inning stretch? I’m not saying you don’t trot out the occasional guest and throw them in the booth, there are certain people that should be able to lead the crowd in take me out to the ballgame, but let’s not force it. I don’t need people screwing up lines or reading off a laminated piece of paper. Give me Harry on the Jumbotron and blend the old with the new, win win for everyone.
