Steph Curry Hits 77 Straight Threes In Practice, 94 out of 100 Total

ESPN – As the NBA regular season draws to a close, Stephen Curry might be just finding his best shooting stroke. The Golden State Warriors guard and owner of the NBA single-season 3-point record connected on 77 straight 3s in Tuesday’s practice.  Curry rotated around the perimeter, taking 10 shots from several spots. Curry told ESPN the 77 represents the most he’s ever made in a row. Out of 100 shots taken during the session, he made 94. Teammate Klay Thompson, who is second in the NBA with 234 made 3s, told ESPN he couldn’t believe Curry had made 77 straight and that his own record streak is 36. Curry, a leading candidate for league MVP, broke his own record for 3-pointers made in a season. With only Wednesday’s regular-season finale against the Denver Nuggets remaining, Curry has 284 3s — a staggering 3.6 per game — for the season.

Outrageous. Simply one of the most impressive things I’ve ever heard. I know we’re talking about practice. Not a game. Not a game. We’re talking about practice. But this is such a preposterous number it doesnt matter. 77 straight. SEVENTY SEVEN! I don’t think I can do anything 77 times in a row. No joke I dont think I can count to 77. You get up to like 58, 59, and then you’re like “Wait was I on 50 or 60? Fuck!” Meanwhile Steph Curry drains 77 from 23 feet 9 inches and 94 out of 100. I dont think I could pick an every day, menial task and perfect it the way Steph Curry has perfected shooting the rock. Its just a thing of beauty. Its like Ken Griffey’s Swing. Just a sight to behold. And the fact that Steph Curry has been so filthy during actual games this year makes this practice accomplishment that much more impressive. Like if this was just some bench scrub putting up practice numbers nobody would care. But the fact that its the NBA’s MVP who has hit 284 of em during live action allows you to appreciate the fact that he can hit a million in a row in practice as well.

Anyway here’s my question – is Steph Curry the most universally loved superstar in sports right now? I dont think I’ve ever met a single person who disliked him or had a bad word to say about his game. He’s the most exciting, talented player on one of the most likable teams in sports. Nobody really hates the Warriors. Nobody has a grudge against them. Sure there are some fans in the West right now he probably hate the fact that Steph Curry lights them up constantly and will probably stop their team from winning a title, but I dont think there’s anybody out there who personally loathes Curry like most superstars on his level.
