The North Carolina College Shooter Looks Like A Real Standup Guy

DAYTONA, FL (WTVD) — Goldsboro police say that alleged Wayne Community College shooter Kenneth Morgan Stancil III has been captured in Florida.

The 20-year-old was found sleeping on the beach in Daytona around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday by the Volusia County Beach Patrol. The patrol approached him because the city has a no sleeping on the beach ordinance. He had a knife on him, and he was held for further identification. He gave his real name to officers and was taken into custody without incident.

He’s being held in the Volusia County jail without bond. The Goldsboro Police Department and the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office will now be working with the Volusia County Florida Prosecutor’s Office to extradite Stancil back to North Carolina.

Ron LanePolice say Stancil shot 18-year Wayne Community College print shop manager Ron Lane on the third floor of the Wayne Learning Center, which houses the cafeteria and library, shortly after 8 a.m. Monday.

At a news conference Tuesday, police said Stancil used a shotgun with a pistol grip in the shooting. They said they were investigating the case as a possible hate crime.

Stancil is a former student who did not graduate. The school said he was a third-year work/study student – who also worked in the print shop – and had been dismissed for poor attendance by Lane in February.

The shooting sent the school into a full lockdown as law enforcement officers methodically cleared each building on campus and allowed students and faculty to leave.

Ok I already said earlier that my first act as President would be to set up amnesty laws for 21 year olds on their birthdays, but I might have to put that on the back burner and start with this one – that anyone that looks like this just goes immediately to jail.

I know I know, that’s a slippery slope, arresting people just because of how they look, but I mean, let’s be honest…who is the last person with full connecting face + neck tattoo that did any good in the world? What possible benefit to society does a guy who chose to spend money to put that on his head serve? There’s judging a book by it’s cover then there’s just plain common sense.

“I can say with confidence that Mr. Stancil had a calculated plan, and he carried out that plan,” Goldsboro police Sgt. Jeremy Sutton said during a Tuesday morning news conference.

Investigators said Stancil carried a 12-gage pump shotgun into the Wayne Learning Center shortly before 8 a.m. Monday, went to the third-floor print shop and fired a single shot, killing Lane. He fled campus on a motorcycle, which a state trooper found abandoned in the median of Interstate 95 South in Lumberton later that morning. [Wral]
