LeSean McCoy Says Chip Kelly Doesn't Like Or Respect His Star Players

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – LeSean McCoy still hasn’t spoken to Chip Kelly. The running back said his former coach called him twice, but he didn’t answer. So he has yet to hear Kelly’s reason for trading him to the Buffalo Bills last month.  McCoy said he heard Kelly say to reporters that money was the primary factor. He said he heard Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie say that Kelly thought his shifty running style wasn’t ideally suited to his offense.  He has another theory.  “I don’t think he likes or respects the stars. I’m being honest,” McCoy told The Inquirer on Monday. “I think he likes the fact that it’s ‘Chip Kelly and the Eagles.’ “

Let it go, pal.  Has there been anyone in recent sports history this salty about getting traded away?  I love(d) McCoy in Philly.  Dude was the best, most electrifying athlete in the city.  The all-time leading rusher for the Eagles and a PA legend. But this is a business.  And you know what?  I actually would love it if Chip Kelly didn’t “like” or “respect” his star players.  There’s too many “premadonnas” in this league that’s essentially a team game. Treat everyone the same going into battle and it’ll pay off in the end.  Not to mention Chip Kelly unnecessarily called him twice and he willingly refused to pick up the call.  Isn’t that not respect?  Talk about maturity.  And LeSean McCoy was one of the highest paid players on the Eagles (albeit, not a contract through Chip).  I think that’s how “respect” is truly measured in the league.
