Joe Torre To Throw Out First Pitch On Opening Day
NY – Joe Torre is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Opening Day as the Yankees host the Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium on Monday at 1:05 p.m. ET. Gates will open to guests with valid tickets beginning at 10:30 a.m., with ceremonies slated to begin at approximately 12:30 p.m. with the introduction of both teams on the baselines. Torre managed the Yankees for 12 seasons from 1996 through 2007, winning four World Series championships and six American League pennants. Torre will also be honored with the “Pride of the Yankees Award” at the 36th Annual Homecoming Dinner following the game.
Might as well schedule the ring fitting for the 7th inning stretch so they are ready for October. I’ve been worried about what Monday will feel like without Jeter being there, but this is what is going get the emotions going to kick the season off.
Let’s face it, without Jeter there isn’t much to emotionally tie us to this team. Yeah we have emotions towards the organization, but really nothing towards these players besides disdain for their contracts, so having Torre there is a great move. This can be a very good team and I do really believe they will be in the playoffs. But they need every game they can get and that starts with the Opening Day. Who better to kick that game off than the man who led us to 4 World Series titles and our most recent Hall of Fame member?
Never Forget:
People are stupid.
