Adult Website Stripchat Submits $15 Million Naming Rights Offer for the Superdome
With Mercedes-Benz allowing its naming rights to the Superdome to lapse after securing the rights to the newer Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta — home to the Saints' division rival Falcons — the New Orleans stadium is searching for a new sponsor. And adult webcam site Stripchat is ready to have its time in the Sun.
Los Angeles Times — “In our opinion, New Orleans is the party capital of the United States,” Stripchat communications director Max Bennett said in a news release.
“I’d like to think that we here at Stripchat embody some of New Orleans’ character and flair. As one of the world’s leading adult webcam sites that averages over 60 million visitors per month, we know a thing or two about having a good time.”
Stripchat actually made a pretty respectable offer of $15 million. Mercedes-Benz secured the naming rights to the stadium in 2011 for a reported $50-60 million for 10 years, so an offer the size of Stripchat's is actually large enough to be taken seriously for a multiple-year deal.
Stripchat honestly nailed it in their press release when they said there is no city more fitting to have a porn company sponsor its NFL venue than New Orleans, Louisiana. When you think filth — the fun kind and otherwise — you think the Big Easy. I yearned for the Braves' new ballpark to be Chick-fil-A Park — we could have all called it The Big Sandwich; it would have been great — and while that didn't come to fruition, I want our friends in New Orleans to have something equally representative of their culture.
Let's get a deal done, Stripchat.
