Mike Tyson Picked Out His 10 Best Knockouts To Help Jamie Foxx and Martin Scorsese Make Their Mike Tyson Biopic

Uproxx – Unless you count me wanting to deck someone after figuring out Shutter Island‘s twist in the first 15 minutes of the film, Martin Scorsese hasn’t made a boxing movie since Raging Bull. That’s about to change, though, now that Marty’s working on a Mike Tyson biopic, according to Jamie Foxx, who said, “Listen, to be in the same room pitching Mike Tyson to Paramount, Mike Tyson is on one side, I’m on the other side and doing Mike Tyson at the same time. And Martin Scorsese at the helm.” Tyson himself confirmed the rumor in a video he posted to his YouTube page, “Pick My Best Knockouts for Jamie Foxx,” which asks you to help him “pick my 10 best knockouts to feature in the Mike Tyson story starring Jamie Foxx and directed by Martin Scorcese.”

Watching this video you wonder how anybody ever willingly got into the ring with Mike Tyson in the 80s. Thats like agreeing to stand in the street while a Mack truck is barreling down on you, hoping you win that matchup. Totally absurd to make yourself a target for that man. Like what the fuck was this dude thinking getting in the ring with Mike Tyson:

This is legitimately like the real life version of if Glass Joe ever faced Tyson in Punch Out. All I needed was that referee to look like an Italian plumber and this would have been straight from a Nintendo screen.

The whole video is an hour long because they include a few minutes of footage and play by play for each knockout. So I havent gotten through all of them yet, but its a pretty awesome idea for Tyson and his fans to put together a top ten for Jamie Foxx and Scorsese. That movie has potential to be fucking awesome. With Scorsese’s experience on Raging Bull and Jamie Foxx’s experience doing biopics with Ray, they could be a phenomenal duo to tell the Mike Tyson story. You just gotta hope Jamie Foxx can nail Tyson the way he did Ray Charles. Because thats the only question mark really. As far as material for the movie, theres no doubt theres enough to make an interesting film. Tyson is one of the most fascinating figures in sports history, no doubt. You could make the argument that he is number 1 as a matter of fact. His upbringing, his meteoric rise to fame, his exploitation in the boxing industry, his collapse, his legal troubles outside of the ring, his return, and now his resurgence as like a comedy figure in pop culture, there’s no shortage of subjects for a 2 hour movie. I’m sure the film will focus more on his career and early days but you could make a movie that spans like 30 years and go from Heavyweight champ to The Hangover. Some major potential for a fantastic sports movie there.
