Ric Bucher's Latest LeBron Theory Is Some Grade A Bullshit

OK I think the quarantine is starting to get to Ric Bucher. I know, I know, this is another talking head show where they have nothing to talk about so they throw some absolute bullshit against the wall but I mean come on. I can't sit here and clown the Stephen As or Nick Wright's of the world for their nonsense and then let Ric Bucher off the hook here. I had to listen to that take twice just to make sure I heard him right. Go ahead and do the same so we can all be on the same page here.

Look, I hate having to defend LeBron. Makes me sick to my stomach. But I cannot allow a take like this to go unnoticed. LeBron's desire to want to play in front of fans is really a cover for actually not wanting to play in the playoffs at all because he's 35? 

The Lakers, a team that has to deal with the exact same situation as every other team in the league is at a disadvantage? Why? Ric says it's because they are one of the oldest teams in the league, which is true. Their average age is 29. Quick question though. How old is Anthony Davis? Oh 26? Or what about other regular rotation guys like Avery Bradley (29), KCP (26), Kuzma (24)? They aren't all that old. Yeah Dwight is 34 and Rondo is 33, but they are reserve players and Dwight basically sat out a year. The only other relatively older starter other than LeBron is Danny Green and he's 32. This idea that the Lakers are going to be at a disadvantage because of their age if the playoffs do happen is simply outrageous considering everyone else has to deal with the same shit. 

It's also weird that this theory of a layoff being bad only applies to LeBron right? Like Bucher talks about having to face the Clippers, well why couldn't a 2 month stoppage impact their two best players who are walking injury risks We sure Kawhi's hammy is going to react well to everything being back? None of their 30+ year old players will be impacted either, only the ones from the Lakers. He then lost me when he talked about Giannis and the Bucks. Why? Because the Bucks have an older average age than the Lakers! Sort of put himself in a pretzel with that one. Yeah Giannis is 25 but there are key rotation players like Kover (38), Matthews (33), Hill (33), Williams (33) that are all older as well. But nope, the layoff won't impact their age, just the Lakers. 

Last time I checked LeBron isn't getting any younger, so this idea that he would prefer to punt on a season at 35 so he can try again at 36 doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I get it, this is the point of those shows, so we blog about it and talk about it but whatever there's nothing else going on right now so we may as well expose some bullshit when we see it, and this my friends is some Grade A bullshit.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go take a shower after having to defend LeBron and the Lakers. Fuck this virus for making me get to this point.
