Pardon My Take Introduces Barbara Corcoran to Various Ideas That Could Make Millions
A new week of Pardon My Take kicks off with Barbara Corcoran, as Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter welcome on another Shark from the hit show "Shark Tank." Each of them picked Corcoran's brain about how real estate works, some of the best and worst ideas she's invested in, and more. Also, what's a visit from a Shark without Mr. Cat and Mr. Commented pitching some ideas themselves? Will they finally get one of these folks to buy in?
Mr. Commenter: What's the one thing that we're missing in New York that all these other places, all these other great cities in the world have that we don't?
Mr. Cat: Manners!
Mr. Commenter: Yeah, that. And a beach. We don't have a beach in Manhattan. How much would it cost to get a shitload of sand and just dump it on the south shore of Manhattan and just have that beach?
Barbara Corcoran: You know, the Hudson River is pretty clean. Your idea sounds wacky because it's coming from a wacky guy. But I'll tell you, it's not a bad idea.
Mr. Commenter: I know! You don't have to tell me I'm an idiot before you tell me I'm smart. You could just say, that's a smart idea, PFT.
Barbara Corcoran: It's a smart idea, honestly. People would welcome it. What my point was going to be, and then you interrupted me...
Mr. Commenter: A couple heavyweights going at it.
Barbara Corcoran: Every other great city you go to, when you're on the water, you're aware of the water. It would be phenomenal on the Hudson River to have a lengthy, beautiful beach because the water's even clean enough to swim in now.
Mr. Cat: It is? What about the East River?
Barbara Corcoran: I don't think so, I'm going to have to check on that, but the Hudson is.
Mr. Commenter: I got another idea for that.
Barbara Corcoran: You are a bundle of ideas.
Mr. Commenter: It's actually Hank's idea. Top Golf. We build a Top Golf, but this is my spin on it: You put all the balls that you hit into the water, you hit them directly into the East River and they disintegrate over time. And on the inside of the balls, it's algae, so it makes the river nice as time goes on. So you're making green and you're keeping the environment green.
Barbara Corcoran: Yeah, well, I'm out on that one, that one will never go over.
Hank: It's helping the water, you're saving the planet.
Mr. Cat: Oh, what about Top Golf and the golf balls are ice cubes and we lower the temperature of the ocean?
Barbara Corcoran: Oh, that's practical, I'll put millions on that one. This is starting to sound like some of the wacky pitches that we heard on Shark Tank.
Welp, I guess the short answer to my preceding question is no. While there may still may an unfortunate goose egg when it comes to successful Shark Tank pitches, you can't deny the heart that both Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter have. One of these ideas will stick. One of these ideas will make millions. It's just up to the Sharks to take a chance on these guys and their brilliant ideas.
