Ovi's March To 800 Began With A Pre-Game Ceremony And Then Immediately Scoring 701
Before the game tonight the Caps honored Ovi for becoming just the 8th member of the 700 goal club. It's just remarkable that we've watched this kid come over from Russia and light up the league for the last 15 years. Truly one of the coolest things in sports that we've all been apart of as he overcame all the doubters and skeptics (and the Dale Hunter era) to become this larger than life, incredible player, Stanley Cup champion that we know him as today.
And I almost blogged this gif on it's own as an adorable must watch. I mean come on!
Can't wait to see Ovi Jr continue on Ovi's legacy (but since I'm making sure Ovi never retires I'm sure they will play together in DC in 15 or so years).
And then once the puck dropped, Alex wasted no time putting 701 on the board.
99 more til he joins the 800 club. And when you look at that number…99…it really doesn't seem too daunting when you're talking about Ovechkin. And maybe we'll scoop another Cup along the way. What a guy. What a player. What a legend.
