You Either Die A Hero Or You Live Long Enough To See Yourself Become The Villain: Apparently The Mighty Ducks Will Be The Bad Guys In The Upcoming TV Series

IGN - A Mighty Ducks TV series is reportedly coming to Disney+ and it sounds like the Ducks will be portrayed as the antagonists of the show.

The Hollywood Reporter says the show will consist of 10 half-hour episodes and will be set in present day Minnesota. It's not clear if this will be a miniseries or if it will potentially go on for future seasons. The story follows 12-year-old Evan (Brady Noon), who was recently cut from the now highly competitive Ducks. Evan and his mom (Lauren Graham) decide to start their own team of underdogs to take them on.

I get it. I really do. It's the cyclical nature in which sports always work. You're only the lovable underdog until you're not anymore. We've seen it time and time again. As soon as a team starts to become "too" dominant, the general public starts to turn on them with the passion of a thousand suns. We've seen it with the Patriots. We've seen it with the Warriors. We'll probably start to see it in 2-4 years with the Kansas City Chiefs. That's just the way she goes.

So for the Mighty Ducks? A team that was able to take down the Hawks dynasty at the Minnesota State PeeWee Hockey Tournament and then was able to take down Team Iceland at the Junior Goodwill Games and followed that up by being a bunch of freshman and beating the Eden Hall Warriors varsity team? Yeah, the pendulum has swung in the opposite direction and now it's time for the Ducks to be the bad guys.

And sometimes it's just really fun to root for the bad guys.

I know this show is going on Disney and this isn't typically the way that Disney shows operate but I really hope this show has the balls for the Ducks to beat the absolute piss out of this little team of misfits getting thrown together to challenge them. You know how in most movies the bad guys would win the first game by at least 10 goals but after some hard work, perseverance and battling through some adversity along the way, the protagonists of the movie would come together and finally beat the bad guys? Well I hope the Ducks kick the shit out of this team the first game and then blow their doors off even harder in the championship. Because that's real life. Sometimes you can work as hard as you want but somebody is just always going to be better than you. So don't give me any happy go lucky crap here. I want the Ducks to cut this little shit head at tryouts and I want him crying at the end of the movie looking up at the scoreboard and realizing his team just got shit pumped by 25.

It's not worth winning if you can't win big.
