Eli Takes On Luck In A Monday Night Battle Of Doofy QBs
It’s been a pretty wild couple of weeks in the division since Big Blue left Dallas with a big L and headed into their bye week 3 games behind both Philly & the Cowboys in the loss column. Dallas dropped a pair & their QB has a broken back. Philly split 2 games but have Mark Sanchez at the helm for the foreseeable future. The Giants still have to do some heavy lifting through a lethal November schedule – but the opportunity is there for them to vault themselves back into the mix starting with a win over the Colts tonight. It won’t be easy, but Indy was just taken to the bathroom by Big Ben last week to the tune of 40-49/522/6 while the G-Men have won their last 6 games coming off a bye. If Coughlin’s squad has hopes of an upset though, they better start quick.
Andrew Luck’s Colts are at the top of the league in first quarter points for & against (68-13). The Giants are the polar opposite – in their 4 losses, they’ve been outscored 41-zip after the first 15. The Giants pass rush will be key tonight in slowing Indy’s pass-happy offense. Although Luck has had an MVP-caliber first half & is only one short of last season’s TD total, he’s already matched 2013’s TO tally. He’s gonna do his damage, but forcing him into a couple giveaways to shorten the field is a must if NY plans on keeping pace. Realistically speaking, Eli’s gonna have to hang a 30-spot & his offensive line should be rested enough to allow him to do so. With two weeks of preparation & chips from Jerry Reese, expect to see the passing game open up. Tonight’s the night for ODB or Randle to explode.
It’s Giants “Homecoming Weekend”. Tons of big names throughout Big Blue’s history will be there to honor new HOFer Michael Strahan at the half. Everyone in a Giants uniform has every reason to play their asses off tonight and steal a huge W on Monday Night Football. Can’t ask for a better stage than this. With a trip to Seattle next week, it’s as “must win” as Week 9 can get.
