Parents Are Calling For A Middle School Girls Basketball Coach To Be Fired After Implementing The Most Cruel Torture Technique Ever Used In History: Bear Crawls

Houston - Shannon Hannah is outraged after her 12-year-old daughter came home from school with blisters. 

“A couple of kids had either skipped or been late to class, but the whole class was punished and they had to do bear crawls on that track,” Hannah said.

Shannae Chumchal is another parent furious over the bear crawls, an exercise where the students walk with their hands and toes.

Oh my goodness, lock this teacher / basketball coach up and throw away the keys!!! Bear crawls? Why not just waterboard them while you're at it? I mean, making kids who have skipped or been late to class do a body weight exercise is the definition of cruel and unusual punishment. What's next? PUSHUPS?

This story is why I hate today's society. And I hate to be the 27 year old that says "back in my day", but back in my day we had to bear crawl suicides for being late to practice. Big whoop. Actually, you know what, we didn't have to bear crawl for being late. The rest of the entire team did, and then when the late person got there they sit in a chair on the sideline and watched everyone else run. For THEM being late. It taught us accountability, folks. And then we walked uphill 10 miles in the snow to get home. With no jacket.

Anyways, I will admit that this coach is pretty much a moron for making 12 year old girls bear crawl on a track. There's a reason she's teaching Science to middle schoolers instead of an important subject like Math or English. Why have them do bear crawls on the hard surface when you could've used the grass right in the middle of the track? Or maybe use the gym floor seeing as you're a basketball team? Regardless, this lady should get a raise for trying to instill some toughness in a watered down society. I guarantee this team rebounds the hell out of the ball with a coach like this. I bet they take charges and dive on the floor for loose balls, too.

Well, I bet they used to. Back when she was allowed to coach them....

The Brazosport ISD released a written statement:

“Clute Intermediate School science teacher and girls basketball coach, Jazzmin Smith, has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation regarding an incident within the girl’s basketball team. Brazosport ISD has high expectations for all employees; and all allegations are taken seriously and investigated to ensure the safety of our students.”

The two parents want the teacher fired.

Booooooo! What a terrible decision. FIRED? Like lose her job, health care, and income fired?? The inmates are running the asylum down in the Brazosport Independent School District. You can mark my words….I will NOT be attending any more Clute Intermediate School girls basketball games unless Coach Smith gets reinstated. If Coach goes, I go!
