The First Trailer For Morbius, The Marvel Vampire, Is Here
To be honest, I was dreading this trailer dropping. Leto's last superhero attempt 'Suicide Squad' was a total nightmare, and he seems better suited to prestige projects. That said, this actually looks not terrible. It definitely does NOT look good, but it exceeded my very low expectations. Here is a summary of Morbius from my best friend Wikipedia:
"Despite his initial status as one of Spider-Man's horror-based rogues, he went on to become a brooding and gritty, albeit heroic and tragically flawed antihero in his own series and other titles. His true identity was former award-winning biochemist named Michael Morbius imbued with pseudo-vampiric superhuman abilities and physical traits stemming from a failed biochemical experiment which was intended to cure his rare blood disorder, as opposed to supernatural means. The rest of his appearances feature his struggles with his non-human vampiric persona, his insatiable lust for human blood and his subsequent efforts to cure his horrific condition, along with his eventual stint as a brutal and nightmarish vigilante."
Vampires? In Marvel? I know what you're thinking but like I said in my Doctor Strange blog last week, I think horror is an interesting direction for the MCU to explore. As of right now, I'm setting my potential ceiling of this movie at around a 75/100. If I end up rating it anything higher, I'll be pleasantly surprised. It stars Jared Leto (American Psycho), Adria Arjona (Good Omens), Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Jared Harris (Chernobyl), Tyrese Gibson (Fast & Furious), and MIchael Keaton, who made a surprise appearance at the end of the trailer as his character VULTURE, the villain from 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'.
Oh by the way, BUY A SHIRT!
