The Sixers Are The Smartest Team In The League, Get First Loss At Home Out Of The Way

The Sixers were right on the cusp of hitting that "holy shit, is this team never going to lose a game at home ever again?" territory after winning 14 straight home games to start the season. I think once you hit that 15 number, that's when the conversation really starts taking off. Because if you can win 15 at home, that means you can win 30 at home. If you win 30 at home, that means you can win 41 at home. Now imagine if the Sixers go through the regular season undefeated at home then they get to the 2nd round of the playoffs. The Sixers are absolute dog shit on the road, everybody knows that. So in order to finally get to the Eastern Conference Finals, they need to win all 4 home games in the 2nd round.

Just imagine if that's when they lose their first game at the Wells Fargo Center of the season. That would be the most gut-wrenching, heartbreaking, pain inducing loss in the history of history. It would be the biggest kick in the dick known to mankind. You'd have an entire city taking a nap on the SEPTA tracks just waiting for the sweet release of death to take them away.

But no. The Sixers are smarter than that. They're smarter than you. They're smarter than me. And they realize that it makes a helluva lot more sense to lose a relatively meaningless game at the Farg in December than it would in the 2nd round of the playoffs. They get that loss out of the way now and they don't have to worry about it later. That's a team who has a championship in mind. Let the Heat celebrate their win in December that they would have pissed away if Al Horford hits that shot. Last time I checked, the Larry O'Brien Trophy doesn't get handed out in December. And also--at least the first home loss of the season wasn't to the Celtics so it's not like we need to hear about it for the next 8 weeks from obsessive Boston fans.

So when everybody else today starts talking about how we're halfway through December and the Sixers are still a bunch of inconsistent jackasses, just know that they're idiots and buffoons for not seeing the big picture here. And may lord have mercy on their souls.
