Brazilian Soccer Fans Took Relegation Pretty Well - aka The Ref Called The Match With 5 Minutes Left As They Ripped Seats Out And Threw Them At Players
Example (and I'm using a rough number here) 489,310,501,501 of why European and South American soccer fans are just batshit crazy. They simply care about their club more than we can possibly care about anything, family included. I mean it's not even shocking seeing fans literally rip seats out and chuck them at the players. There's a 100% chance the fans are flat out embarrassed, that's how they view it and it's why there's always crazy shit like this going on. Oh and if that wasn't enough, this club also had a corruption scandal this year (h/t The Sun)
But the club was rocked in May by a corruption scandal and the knock on effect was huge, with the side hiring and firing four managers over the course of the season.
Sure, why not? Let's add that to the situation here. Soccer fans, man. They are just a different breed of fans. They don't give a shit about damage to the stadium. They don't give a shit about getting arrested for fighting with the cops or trying to burn shit to the ground. They are going to rip chairs out and chuck them at players if they get embarrassed.
I mean just think about it. What's the worst thing you've done when your team has lost in heartbreaking fashion? Punched a hole in the wall? Maybe threw a remote? Started chugging bourbon to black out for the night and wake up on the floor? Those examples all may seem extreme, but they still don't even come close to soccer fans.
