I Fucking Love Marcus Smart
Credit to the Warriors. They made this game substantially closer than it needed to be. But in the waning minutes, with the Celtics down, Marcus Smart took over. And he didn’t score a fucking point in the process.
Daniel Theis got fouled by Draymond Green. Draymond argued vehemently despite blatantly tackling Theis to the ground. Theis stepped to the line shooting 11/17 on the season. He cashed the first one, missed the second. On the miss, Smart bullied Willie Cauley-Stein, got a hand on the ball, tipped it out of bounds, jumped up, grabbed it, and tossed it back in to Jaylen when the refs decided to blow the play dead because they thought Smart stepped out of bounds. Thought. They were wrong and should feel bad. Since no one had possession, there was a jump ball at half court. And that’s when Marcus Smart won the Celtics the game.
Down one, with Willie Cauley-Stein sure to out-leap Theis, Smart actually swaps positions with Kemba prior to having a quick chat with Tatum. The Celtics overloaded, preparing to play defense, and with how WCS angled his body there was really only one place he would naturally tip this ball. Tatum shot the gap the second that ball was thrown up and WCS dropped it right in his bread basket. That dunk should have been an AND-1 but whatever, the Celtics won. Because Marcus Smart decided they weren’t going to lose.
