The Bruins Are In The Midst Of Their First 3 Game Losing Streak Of The Season
A brutal pinch from Charlie McAvoy led to a 4 on 1, yeah you read that correctly, a 4 on 1 for the Flyers and Travis Konecny opened the scoring. It was the first time this season that a visiting team has scored first at TD Garden.
With 2 to go in the 1st, Philippe Meyers ringed one off the post and in to give the Flyers the 2-0 lead.
Early in the 2nd the Bruins thought they got on the board with a goal from Par Lindholm but it was ruled no goal. There was no whistle. They wouldn't explain why it wasn't a good goal. No penalty on the play either. Just some more fuckery from the NHL. Maybe an explanation would help, you would think.
David Pastrnak was slashed on a breakaway and was awarded a penalty shot. But Carter Hart made the save to keep the game at 2 apiece.
Joel Farabee scored the lone goal in the shoot out and the Flyers took this one in Boston 3-2.
- Bruce Cassidy stating the obvious about what happened. 10 shots on goal through 2 periods.
- No one scoring in the shout out is not conducive to the Bruins winning shout out games. Coyle, Marchand and Pastrnak all failed to score.
- It was a short stint for Peter Cehlarik, who was returned to Providence Sunday morning. Joakim Nordstrom and Par Lindholm returned to the lineup tonight. With Nordstrom reuniting with Sean Kuraly and Chris Wagner on the 4th line and Lindholm centering the 3rd line.
- Carter Hart is pretty fucking good.
- First real game that we saw Charlie Coyle on the 2nd line right wing since Jake DeBrusk is out with a lower body injury. Didn't love it, to be honest. He looked out of place at times. JD is unlikely to return before next weekend, which is a real kick in the dick because I thought he was starting to string together some consistent games.
- Torey Krug didn't play a second of OT, and after the game Bruce Cassidy announced he has an upper body injury and will be evaluated further. Not great!
- Zdeno Chara was honored with a standing ovation at TD Garden for playing over 1,500 games.
- Jaro Halak made 27 of 29 saves and saved 2/3 in the shoot out.
This team is better than what their on ice performances have been these last 3 games. Jumbled lineup, lots of injuries, the B's are facing their first real tough stretch and we'll see how they respond on Tuesday night when the Florida Panthers roll into Boston.
