Some Suburbs Of Chicago Are Rescheduling Trick-Or-Treating Because Of The Weather

The cold and snowy forecast has prompted some towns in the area to move trick-or-treating. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for several Chicago-area counties. In north suburban Vernon Hills, officials said forecasters predict up to 3 inches of snow. Village officials are concerned about children’s safety, especially when crossing the street in potentially hazardous traffic conditions. As a result, they have rescheduled their authorized trick-or-treating hours to Saturday.”People understand that while there’s a little bit of an inconvenience, it’s being done for the safety of everyone involved,” said Vernon Hills Police Commander Jim Levicki.

First off, had no clue you could just postpone holidays due to weather inconveniences. Can we start moving St. Patty’s Day to a warm summer day now? Maybe change the date of the 4th of July so that it’s always on a Saturday? Where does it stop? I generally don’t like giving Napervillians, Rockforders, and the rest of the Utopians a hard time since they can’t control where they were born, but this is a tough look for Suburbia. How are you gonna keep these children from going door to door getting stacks of candy on Halloween? It’s cruel and unjust. Let the kids play. Sounds to me like trick-or-treating has really just been cancelled due to a lack of hustle from the parents. Can’t let a little snow ruin a good time. Adapt to your environment. If not for me then for the children.
