Oklahoma Cheerleaders Told Not To Do Horns Down At Any Point, Including On Social Media

The toughest team in America is obviously the University of Texas. Their team, coaches, administration, and fans are so tough that they begged the Big 12 to ban the Horns Down sign.

Taking that we are a week and a half away from the Red River Shootout, the horns down controversy is back in the news.

SOURCES-OU spirit squad members have been “heavily encouraged” not to perform the “horns down” hand sign at athletic events or on any social media platform, sources within the program have told The Daily.

Seven student members from across OU’s spirit teams, including the cheer squad, RUF/NEKS, Lil’ Sis and mascots programs, have told The Daily they’ve been instructed by OU Spirit Coordinator Phil O’Neill not to use the hand sign. The students, some of whom have graduated and some who remain in the program, all shared the information on the condition of anonymity. Their identities are known to The Daily.

I thought this was AMERICA.

You’re telling me the girls who literally break their back for the University of Oklahoma aren’t allowed to do this?!

Even on social media?!

Not even the BAND!

Stop. Taking. Personality. Out. Of. College. Football.

It’s what the entire sport is based on! It’s what separates itself! Asking 18-23 year-olds to act like robots is ridiculous! I hope the entire cheer squad gives a big fuck you to the big 12 and does horns down for the entire week leading up to the game.
