The Best Team In New York - Your New York Jets

Hey don’t get me wrong. Thats not saying much. The Giants aren’t really offering much competition for the Crown of New York. Fucking Don Bosco Prep is probably ahead of Big Blue in the Power Rankings right now. But the facts of the matter is, the New York Jets are the best team in the city. In a year where nobody – not me, not you, no analysts – gave the Jets a chance, they are showing some promise. The only assholes out there who predicted this are the true, diehard, lunatic Jets fans. But thats the beauty of the NFL. There’s always gonna be one team that was 6-10 thats gonna go 10-6 and vice versa. Its obviously still early, and we’re basing this off of 3 games against the Bucs, depleted Pats, and the Bills, but it seems possible the Jets could be the surprise contender.

Yesterday was that balance the Jets have never been able to figure out. Over 500 yards of total offense while their defense played a complete 60 minutes of dominance. Even in the good days of the Rex Ryan era, the offense never clicked quite like it did yesterday. Geno throws for 330. Holmes and Hill both go over 100 yards receiving and catch a TD. Bilal Powell over a hundred on the ground. Sure, a couple bad interceptions on Geno throwing the deep ball. But he bounced right back with absolutely no fear to take a crack down field after those miscues and delivered a couple perfect bombs to Santonio. (Sidenote, I hate Santonio Holmes with a passion but when he actually tries and plays like a person with a pulse he’s still a threat.) And, yea, Kyle Wilson is the worst player in the NFL and his costly penalties put the defense in a precarious position multiple times, but the rest of the D responded.

At the end of the day the offense was damn near explosive, and the defense was ferocious. 7 different guys sacked EJ Manuel 8 times, with Mo Wilk leading the pack with 2. Again, I know its just the Bills. But they did what you’re supposed to do against the Bills. If it wasn’t for Rex Ryan throwing the red flag like he has an infinite number of challenges and Kyle Wilson collecting penalties like its his job, this game wouldn’t have ever been close.

It looks like the Jets will be the ones jockeying trying to make the playoffs while the G Men start dreaming of Mr. Clowney. That’s the NFL for you.
