Green Day Is About To Announce A "Hella Mega" Tour With Fall Out Boy & Weezer

Just a few days ago, Billie Joe Armstrong, frontman of Green Day, left a comment on actor Rainn Wilson’s Instagram account that read:

“@rivers_cuomo @petewentz hella mega”

Quickly, fans found the password-protected site HellaMegaTour.com, which features nothing but this GIF of Dwight Schrute…

…but I think it’s safe to assume that the “Hella Mega Tour” will consist of Green Day, Fall Out Boy, and Weezer from that alone. They’re not exactly trying to hide it, I’d say.

If you still need more convincing, though, check out these flyers that were handed out to concertgoers in Philadelphia this week…

…or this deleted video from the tour’s Instagram page…

…or all this weird mish-moshed merch they’ve been sending out to their fanbases…

The Hella Mega Tour is big happening, and it’s time to start getting fucking stoked for it. Green Day, Fall Out Boy, and Weezer, all on one bill. Pretty fucking insane. You have to wonder if they were just sick and tired of Pup Punk throwing all of their hits into one set and profiting, yeah?!

As a diehard Green Day fan, I did have some initial disappointment brought on by the realization that Billie Joe, Mike, and Tre probably wouldn’t get their usual two-and-a-half/three hours on stage, but the rumor mill says they’re gonna make up for that…

Green Day played Dookie in its entirety in anticipation for its 20th Anniversary at Reading Festival 2013, but 2019 IS the classic punk-rock record’s 25th Anniversary, and if you recall correctly, Tre Cool teased a front-to-back Dookie set months ago, so this could very well be true!

Dookie is arguably THE seminal pop punk record, with only Blink 182’s ‘Enema of the State’ really challenging for that spot, and it’s one of the most timeless albums ever written, so this would be MASSIVE and completely amazing. Dookie front-to-back, and then a huge encore full of hits from all of the other records. Like that Reading 2013 set!

All of the Green Day fansites seem to be leaning on tomorrow for the announcement date, and were even before that video of Billie Joe making mention of the date was uploaded to social media, so keep your eyes and ears peeled. There’s also rumored to be three mystery guests on Kimmel this week that I think could be these three bands, and a new single from Green Day has been expected since early this Summer, so obviously, we’ve got a lot to be looking forward to. Wake me up on September 10th.
