It's Pretty Clear The Lakers Didn't Tell Any Of Their Players They Were Getting Traded
OK so this is now the third person involved in this massive trade that we’ve heard talk about how they found out they were traded through social media. With Anthony Davis it was a little different, his agent actually did his job and tried to call him only he wouldn’t answer because he was watching a movie and later found out on Instagram
Sort of weird that during a time where you are expecting life altering news you would see your agent call you and then not answer, but whatever. Then there was Josh Hart who was pretty open about not only the trade but all the bullshit that went on with the Lakers leading up to it
He’s another guy who found out he was traded over Twitter. He’s a member of Roc Nation so it’s not as if he has some joke of an agent. But then you figure, eh, it’s Josh Hart maybe the Lakers were getting around to letting his agent know.
But now we have Lonzo Ball, who essentially was a main piece of this trade, also finding out he got traded on Twitter. In April Lonzo joined CAA which is a pretty big agency so I found this surprising as well. We’re the Lakers so over the moon after they struck a deal to get it out to Shams/Woj so they could get the Twitter love that they told those guys before the actual players that were traded? Sure seems like it. It’s clear Lonzo is taking this whole thing personally
and as a way to self motivate and that’s certainly a good thing. I suppose after what went down in February with AD and the Lakers and all the rumors it certainly shouldn’t have been a shock. Everyone knew these guys were getting traded the second David Griffin found a package he deemed worthy. The missing piece here is Brandon Ingram. My guess is he too learned about his new basketball home via Instagram/Twitter.
I guess this just how LeBron and the Lakers front office operates. They have no problem publicly throwing guys under the the bus and ruining the chemistry as long as LeBron gets what he wants. Then when that actually happens, they can’t even give the guys a heads up? Karma has forced them to bring in Dwight Howard though, while these guys are now on a fun and exciting Pelicans team. Something tells me they don’t hate their new situations one bit, but it’s still shitty for the Lakers to not actually tell these dudes they’ve been traded.
