Astronaut Allegedly Hacks Her Ex's Bank Account From Space
(Houston) – Those charges were dropped, and Worden filed for divorce, but she said that the ongoing battle in Texas didn’t stay on Earth.
“USAA Bank did give evidence to my attorneys that she did access my bank accounts,” Worden said.
According to Worden, in 2019, McClain broke into her bank accounts while she was on board the International Space Station. Worden gave KPRC the letter that her attorney sent to the NASA inspector general documenting the alleged breach.
“I was shocked and appalled at the audacity by her to think that she could get away with that, and I was very disheartened that I couldn’t keep anything private,” said Worden.
Worden’s parents also sent a letter to the NASA Office of the Inspector General citing the allegation in space.
I talk about it a lot, perhaps too often, but I’ll never be able to get over how easy it used to be to rob someone. I’m talking about Old Western times, out on the range, entering a small town, walking into the bank or saloon, announcing yourself and your agenda to anyone within earshot, making off with the loot and fleeing precisely one mile in any direction. Because there were no cameras, no phones, no anything. You could rob a whole train via horseback and burlap sack with a dollar sign painted on it if you really wanted. Try pulling up to an Amtrak via horse in modern times. It doesn’t work.
The reason I bring that up is because in 2019 you don’t even have to be on the same planet to run someone’s pockets anymore. And I’m not sure what’s worse, the fact that you can get robbed via space computer OR that you can’t even get away with space piracy. I’m leaning towards the latter. Because this is the first time in my 29 years of life I’ve ever heard of a caper pulled off from the cosmos. Ever. There’s no way we’d hear about the first one. This feels like something that’s been happening for some time now. Those NASA nerds are smarter than us, they’ll always have better computers than us, and they have access to literally all of the rocketships. Of course these people having been rummaging through our digital pockets, picking up our loose change and turning into billions if not trillions of dollars around the way. You hack a penny at a time from everyone over the last twenty or so years and no one even notices. Now I see why they even keep them in circulation in the first place – exclusively so that NASA can rob us blind from their little station in the sky. Nice try, NASA. Now I’m on to you. What am I going to do about it? I imagine I’ll forget all about this blog in 3, potentially 4 hours. But if I don’t… likely still nothing.
