The NBA Schedule Leaks So Far Are Basically An Over The Pants Hand Job

There were rumors swirling last week as the Christmas games and some star returning dates were released that the full schedule would be coming out on Friday. I don’t know about anyone else, but I love schedule release day. Not only does it mean we’re one step closer to training camp and the start of the regular season, but you’re lying to yourself if you don’t go through that thing and find a way to get your favorite team to like 73 wins. Right now every fanbase is filled with hope, and the schedule release date is really what gets the blood pumping.

But then Shams had to drop that bomb today that we won’t be getting the full schedule until Monday. I know that’s only a few days after the rumored Friday release, but what bothers me is Shams 100% has the schedule right this second. Giving us the Opening Night slate of LAL/LAC and NO/TOR is basically an over the pants hand job. Yeah it’s better than no hand job, it’s never your first choice but when you’ll take anything you can get it fits the bill.

What I don’t get is, why not just release the whole thing! What’s the point of waiting until Monday afternoon? Is it possible things are still being tweaked at this point? I find that hard to believe.

In terms of the Opening Night games, the NBA isn’t stupid. How do you get the rest of the country to actually watch a Raptors ring ceremony now that Kawhi is gone? You make sure you put Zion in that game. The same reason we’re seeing him play on Christmas, Zion puts asses in seats and we ALL are dying to see him play. Kind of shitty that unfortunately nobody is going to care about the Raptors on the biggest night in their franchise’s history but since you have to give them Opening Night this is the perfect solution.

With LAL/LAC, another matchup that definitely is not a surprise. If there’s a big day in the NBA, we’re getting LAC/LAL. Can’t complain one bit, that matchup is going to be awesome every time they play until AD gets hurt and LeBron quits on his team. But Opening Night in a battle in LA? That’s worth staying up late for.
