The Official Recap Of The 1st Annual ForePlay & Barstool Chicago Putting Classic
This weekend, Barstool Chicago hosted the 1st Annual Foreplay & Barstool Chicago Putting Classic – a collaboration I have been furiously planning since lying to my buddy about whether or not I could help land him a spot in the Classic. You might have missed the story on Friday and judging by the pageviews that goes for pretty much everybody. You can revisit the background here.
TLDR: I set up a putting contest for the last 2 spots in the Chicago division of Riggs’ Barstool Classic. We had 30 something golfers out to Harborside International with the top 2 scorers taking the last 2 spots.
And remarkably, All Biz Pete was on the scene to bring the Final Round to a television near you. Shoutout me for an average broadcast after a responsible amount of Black Cherry Truly’s in the hot sun:
I know that kind of takes the story out of place for a second, but when you invest in the technology to live stream a putting contest then you lead with the live stream of the putting contest, storyline continuity be damned. Once you’ve clicked through that enough to realize it was a real event with actual people then we can jump back to square one and tell the picture story.
Anywas we got things started with official score keeper Chief making sure everyone got their scorecards appropriately filled out.
Once registered, the golfers were handed a delicious TRULY to stay refreshed in the warm summer sun:
And obviously the meant talking shit to everyone:
Classic Dave just being a dick to be a dick and get the juices flowing with the crowd.
And here is calling someone sloppy on a golf course
Come for the putting contest, stay for WSD’s camaraderie THE JOE FLACCO ELITE GOLF BALL
Once we got past the pleasantries though we were ready to take on the course (Barstool Carl design)
The competition’s dress even slicker
And once All Business Pete gave us the thumbs up to start the contest, we were All Gas No Brakes per usual
The format was pretty standard. We had 4 challenging holes ranging from 40 – 120 feet. We ran everyone through the course in groups of 3 with the top 6 guys making it to the final championship round. After a few groups of three, low man Drew Rouches set the pace at a 1-under 9.
And not for nothing, I played in the final group and also carded a 9. It was the 3rd 9 of the day. Not a big deal and not part of the blog but I would have won my own contest. As a big Leaders Eat Last guy, you don’t win your own contest. That’s being a good guy 101 but don’t think I’m good enough to not talk shit to everyone.
Moving on.
Here’s an action shot of Round 1 leader Drew getting a feel for the 3rd tee box
Another guy that emerged from the masses was Tony C-something. I can’t pronounce his last name no matter how hard I tried and honestly I’m jut posting these because he’s got his pick for a new Facebook profile pic.
Spectators were everywhere
We call that the Truly Effect
Do it responsibly guys. Otherwise you’ll end up like Barstool Chicago Legend, TBIDNESS
TBIDNESS knows his way around a golf course apparently
Some frown at that. Other people realize golf is a touch and feel game
Granted you don’t need to throw the club to get everyone’s attention. Like we’re already fixated on you shitting your pants and ripping cigs on the 1st tee box.
The other way to get attention at the Putting Classic is to have style

Here’s the last stream of how it went and with this we’ve come full circle. I opened with our expensive streaming technology and now I’m closing with it.
Even if you don’t care and you think this blog sucks. Here’s one last thing to put a smile on your face.
I lied about our last 2 spots. We actually had 3 spots to give out and I was sitting on the last spot. I wanted to give it to the person who deserved it most out of the 30+ that showed up to putt.
Well turns out we had a 12-year CPD veteran there, Matt, who conveniently has Friday 8/16 off work for the day. He’s a 20 handicap with a huge love for the game. Harborside is his home course and he really could use the time away from all the bullshit life throws your way as a boy in blue. Naturally, Barstool Chicago is here to give it to him.
We’ll have a recap video on our putting contest coming soon with a lot more context behind all the shit I just blogged. Special thanks to everyone who showed up, Harborside International for being the best public course in Chicago. Riggs and Foreplay guys for helping me do this and everybody who actually cares that we took the time to do this. We had a blast and can’t wait to bring our team out to the Classic on the 16th.
