NYC Assholes Are Dumping Buckets Of Water On NYPD Cops
NY Post – Stunning videos posted online Monday show uniformed NYPD cops getting drenched with buckets of water by brazen young men in Harlem and Brooklyn, law enforcement sources told The Post. One clip even shows a soaked cop getting beaned in the back of the head with an empty, red plastic bucket while the cop and his partner were handcuffing a suspect on the hood of a black car. “Everybody’s outraged,” an NYPD source said. “It’s disgusting, embarrassing. There’s lawlessness around here now.” Both videos show bucketfuls of water hurled toward cops as onlookers watch – and in some cases laugh or prance in glee. The incident in which the cop was hit with the bucket took place at 115th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue, sources said. The 19-second video shows a man pick up the bucket and hurl it at the cop, prompting several bystanders to exclaim, “Oh!” as it bounces off his head. NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan posted a still image of the ricocheting bucket on his Twitter account, where he called the video “reprehensible.” “NYC’s cops & communities have made remarkable progress — together — but EVERY New Yorker MUST show respect for our cops. They deserve nothing less,” he wrote. It’s unclear when the Harlem incident occurred, but sources said the other one took place sometime after 4 p.m. in near 1400 East New York Ave. – little more than two blocks away from the 73rd Precinct station house in Brownsville. The 33-second video shows two cops in sopping-wet uniforms walking away as water flies through the air toward their backs. At one point, a young man runs up behind one cop and dumps a bucket of water over his head. One of the cops recently graduated from the Police Academy and the other has about a year on the job, sources said. Neither notified the NYPD about the incident before the video surfaced on social media, sources said. A police source blamed the incidents on the NYPD’s “hands-off approach to these guys” under Mayor Bill de Blasio. “Who does that in their right frame of mind? People who believe there’s no consequences,” the source said. “There’s total anarchy out here. This is very sad.”
Over the last several years the internet has gone bananas showing videos of police brutality and cops overreacting and unnecessarily using force. The Internet has been sharing violent videos and, in some cases, videos of flat out murder in order to paint cops with a broad stroke. And so I think its only fair that everybody sees this as well. I think it’s only fair we all go crazy and share this video of the NYPD showing more restraint than I thought was humanly possible. People DRENCHING these guys with buckets of water, throwing garbage at their heads, and these guys just calmly walk away. They dont touch their weapons. They dont lay a hand on them. They dont raise their voice. Matter of fact they dont even say a single word. Which I think is IMMENSELY impressive. Imagine you’re just trying to do your job, and you’re already engaging in some probably extremely tense and contentious arguments, and some assholes take things too far and start physically emasculating you?? I think 99% of us would react in kind. I dont think I would have had a single problem if these guys turned around and cracked these pricks right in the face. I can only speak for myself, but know I’d lose my cool. And I’d be willing to bet most people who call Cops “pigs” and generalize all of them as bad people would lose their cool too.
I just wany to make sure we keep it fair and balanced. For every one Cop who abuses his power, and abuses his weapon, there are dozens who serve and protect the right way. And theres no better example of that than these clips. So make sure you share this video the same way the disgusting examples of violence get shared. Because at the end of the day, police protection and service is something we all take for granted. And its something a few groups of society completely disrespect based on the actions of a few VERY bad, ATROCIOUS apples. But these young Cops are following the letter of the law and trying to do their best under the current climate and I believe they deserve all the credit in the world for that.
PS – I dont know the politics behind it all. I dont know all the rules and procedures. But it sure as hell really seems like being a cop in De Blasio’s NYC isnt exaclty ideal. Seems like you’re kind of willingly signing up for a dangerous job in which you’re handcuffed from the get go. Not that I’m saying these guys should have been allowed to draw their weapons and use force because of buckets of water, but the fact that these guys couldnt show any force or power is probably a bad sign. These videos are flat out dangerous for cops. When the next disgraceful asshole decides to take it a step further and do actual harm to cops because they saw how these guys had to tuck tail and walk away quietly…well what then? These dickheads getting away with harassment and the people behind the camera laughing it up sets a bad example. I dont believe people should walk around fearing cops, but they should respect them and understand who is the authority in a given situation. And videos like this lead to confusion on that front. And confusion and chaos, and as the article says, anarchy, is what leads to unnecessary violence and death. When criminals push the envelope because they know De Blasio’s rules – and police panic knowing that they cant defend themselves without potentially losing their jobs – I’d imagine thats when disaster strikes. Shout out to all the GOOD cops who find a way to keep us safe while tip toeing their way through that extremely difficult and dangerous dynamic.
