LET THE BOYS PLAY!!! Massive Brawl Breaks Out At Sr. B Box Lacrosse Game In Canada
Gassin’ beers and chuckin’ knucks! That’s what OLA Sr. B lacrosse is all about!
Now for those of you who don’t know, Sr. B box lacrosse up in Canada is basically like a time portal that brings you back to the days when men could be men and just beat the everliving shit out of each other legally. It’s like the NHL of the 70s and 80s. It’s like the AHL of the 90s and early 2000s. I mean OLA Sr. B isn’t any joke. A lot of these guys have all played in the NLL so it’s not like they’re JUST goons out there who are a bunch of fighters just pretending to be lacrosse players. These guys can actually ball. However…they’re also heavily addicted to beating the brakes off of each other.
Just when you thought this brawl was winding down and coming to an end, another fight broke out. Credit to the refs here for at least attempting to step in and stop some of these. But at some point you just have to sit back and let them figure it out themselves because there’s nothing more you can do and it’s not worth getting yourself beat up over. It was only a month ago that a box lacrosse ref was assaulted by a team trainer after getting kicked out of a game for verbally berating the shit out of him.
I can’t imagine there are any box lacrosse refs out there who have forgotten about that already, so it’s always going to be a little dicey when they’re out there trying to stop an entire goddamn team from jumping into the other team’s bench. Takes some massive stones to do the job.
Let me say this though real quick. I think that when it comes to fighting in any sports, box lacrosse has the best sounds. The acoustics of the barn are always perfect. You get the squeaking of the shoes on the surface. You typically get a bunch of the boys banging their sticks along the boards to cheer on whoever is in the middle of the tilt. The crowd is always going crazy. It’s all so chaotic but beautiful at the same time. Strictly speaking in terms of sound quality, there’s nothing in the world better than a box lacrosse fight and that’s a fact.
P.S. – I’m not sure what types of penalties/suspensions have been given out from this yet but I have to imagine it’ll be pretty difficult to finish a semifinal series when your entire team has to watch from the stands.
